Balancing High School Part-Time Work
                                                                Part 5
 Additional Tips
Although working and going to schools is challenging, it can be a rewarding experience if you use some foresight. These tips can help you handle the situation and make the most of your time:

·       Discuss your plans with your family. Balancing the demands of school and work is easier with their support.
·       Start slowly; don’t commit to working a lot of hours immediately.
·       Avoid time conflicts by planning your class and work schedules as far ahead of time as possible.
·       Use you time efficiently. You can use 10 minutes waiting in a line to go over a few pages of assigned reading. If your job has a lot of down time and your boss has no objection, you can use slow periods to do school work.
·       If you commute to your job on public transportation bring your schoolwork with you so you can work along the way.
·       Be flexible and willing to make sacrifices. You may have to cut down on some other things you’d like to do because of your school and work commitments.
·       If you have too much on your plate, admit it. Then cut back as needed.
·       Schedule relaxation time. Everyone needs some downtime to stay happy and healthy.

My spring break was pretty boring. i just stood home and take care of my little sister. the only times i got to go out was when it was my 11 month anniversary with my boyfriend. we went to go eat to a really nice place and we went to the park to go take pictures and just hang out there. the other time i got to go out was when i went bike riding with my bestfriend, we went to go buy some junk food and then we just left as far as we could from hp. that was my spring break so far.

Marion Jones Olympic Cheater
Summary:
Marion Jones is a great runner in the track and field for the Olympics and has three gold medals and two bronze as a total of five medals. She is happy to have received these five medals ,but she has a dark secret on how she won these five medals which has led to her great fall from the Olympic podium to a prison. She had cheated to get these medals. When she was in the federal courthouse she admitted to everyone that she cheated to get the she has and when she did, she had to be thrown in prison. What she did to cheat was she took a special performance drug that had helped her win the five medals ,in which she has to give them up. People can easily go from total success down to total failure and what Jones did was one of the biggest falls in history and people could do the same if they cheated to win something that is probably not worth it.

He reminds students that “the activities and courses students choose vary considerably, so it’s important for young people to keep their individual situations clearly in mind.” McGowan continues, “ for example , students actors should allow for the fact that they won’t have as much time during performance seasons. Students athletes need to remember the time of the year that they’ll be tired up with games and practice. other students who are in classes that make considerable demands outside of the classroom much keep that reality in mind’’

"Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the highroad to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction.
                                     Margret Thatcher

Reflection:
What this statement probably means is that trying hard to do what's right is important and will lead you to pride. In other words, you will have pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction if you do what is right even if it is hard doing so. For example, you get bad grades all the time and you're starting to get sick of failing, so to clean up your act you decide to start studying and doing homework for once and sacrificing free time to complete your classwork/homework, which is hard for you do give up on, and when your report card comes out you start getting A's and B's, because of the good grade you got, you feel proud of yourself and start doing work everyday.

Balancing High School And Part-Time Work
                                        Part 3

Brad MacGowan, of the Career Center at Newtown North High School in Massachusetts, thinks that working can be a valuable part of a student’s life if taken care of responsibly. “You can derive a great deal from working, considerably more than just money,” he says. “In most cases, you can acquire a nice dose of discipline and a whole new set of skills and experiences.” In addition, your supervisor may be willing to write a strong college recommendation for you.

School Comes First

Schoolwork, including homework and studying for tests, should always be your top priority. MacGowan cautions students who do decide to work, “If you are rushing through your assignments… or not studying enough for tests because of work, it’s time to cut back or quit and find a less time-consuming job.”

“ What you are will show in what you do.”
                                                                Thomas A. Edison
Reflection:
What this statement probably means is that how you act is how people know who you are. In other words, depending on your behavior or the way you act, people know what you really are. For example, if you act or behave sophisticated then people will think you are smart and respectful, but if you behave badly or mess around people think or know that you don't care about that certain subject and that you are disrespectful to others. Some people can change their behavior and that shows others that you can behave appropriately when you can.
