Take Control of homework

Although very few students love homework, it does a purpose.

·       Reinforce what you’ve learned during the day.

·       Build study habits that are essential in college.

·       Prepare for your classes.

·       Get a sense of progress.

Here are some tips to help you deal with homework more efficiently and effectively.

SET THE MOOD

Create a good study area with everything you need (for example, a calculator). If you don’t have a quiet place at home, try you school o local library.

KNOW WHERE TO BEGING

Make a list or everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignment first, so you don’t have to face them at the end.

STUDY AT THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY

Even if you don’t have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you’ll approach it with less dread. Also, you’ll become a pro at using the time productively.

Reflection:
What this statement probably means is that it is better to do what is right, even when suffering doing so. In other words, doing what's right is better than ignoring your conscience, even if there is suffering within doing so. For example, when you did something wrong and you feel guilt, be honest on what you did wrong and even if you get punished for doing so, at least you feel good removing the guilt you felt within you.

Stick to It

Review your notes the day you take them and all your notes once a week. That way, you won’t need to study as much when its test time.

Try out with Cornell system, but if it doesn’t work for you, experiment with other methods. Ask your classmates how they take notes or ask a teacher for advice. Taking good notes requires practice, like any other skill. And the more you work at it now, the more prepared you’ll be to take notes in college.

Summary:
Tony Farmer, a High School senior and one of the top 50 high school basketball players, was sentence to three years in prison. He went from total popularity to being behind bars. What happened is Farmer was declared guilty for robbing, kidnapping, assault, etc. He would of gotten a college basketball career if he hadn't done all those crimes. His reaction to his 3-year sentence in the courtroom was total unhappiness and he almost cried. No one will ever feel good about doing bad and that's exactly what happened with Tony Farmer, if you're doing what's wrong you will never get away with it.

Reflection:
What happened to Farmer made me feel that it is unbelievable that such a great basketball player could end up in prison for three years. His dream of becoming a great college basketball player in the future was crushed by doing what's wrong. I believe that to this punishment it can happen to any who decides to follow his footsteps and their dreams can be crushed as well. If you do what's right then you won't feel bad, but you will feel pride and instead of punishments you get rewards and also pride.

After Class

As soon as class ends, review your notes and fill in any blanks. Underline, highlight and use symbols to sort through the information. If you don’t understand something, get help from your teacher or classmates.

After you’ve reviewed all your notes from class, in the left-hand area of the page write down key words and questions your teacher might ask on a test.

At the bottom of each page, write a summary of the notes. This helps you digest what you’ve learned. It also improves your memory of the material for the long term and for tests down the road.

Reflection:
What this statement probably means is that someone that listens is likely to take good notes. In other words, someone would take good notes if they are listening carefully. For example if they are paying attention to what the teacher is showing ,yet it'll be hard to remember, the best thing to do is take notes to help you understand later on in life.
